This is the usual advice you get from the dental profession. What they don’t tell you is that brushing twice a day with the wrong brush and technique will cause you to brush away the protective enamel on your teeth. It is called “tooth brush trauma” but includes too much (and too often) toothpaste, which is like a liquid sandpaper.  By over brushing you can actually brush grooves into your teeth that need filling and scrub away gums.

It has been scientifically proven that brushing/flossing 3 times a week (with the right technique) can keep you healthy. No plaque = no tooth decay and no gum disease. Once a day is more than enough and don’t panic if you miss a day or two here and there. We have been doing this for over 30 years and have dental health.

Children do not have the dexterity to brush and floss their own teeth effectively so they need an adult to do it for them until they are old enough to be coached with a good technique ( we think around 13 years of age). This is where 3 times a week makes this job easier. Your little ones will fight you but take a stand. It will save their teeth and your money. Most tooth decay is preventable. It is how you brush and floss not how often. Ask your dentist for some lessons and change your dental health. It is easy when you know how.
